Harvest Assembly

Key Stage 2 have enjoyed a Harvest assembly led by Mrs Bain and Year 5B. We talked about and celebrated the Harvest gifts brought in by our families.

5B performed a play to teach us the importance of sharing, being thankful and showing tolerance for other religions and beliefs. We talked about how lucky we are to have enough food to eat, and gave thanks for all the choices that we have.

Author and Poet Jane Clarke’s Visit

Author and poet Jane Clarke visited our school today! All of the KS2 classes enjoyed workshops with her, where she read her books, talked about the process of writing and getting books published and shared some of her writing tips and ideas.

Everybody really enjoyed Jane Clarke’s visit. What was your favourite thing about your workshop, Key Stage 2?

KS2 Christmas Show

Wow, what an amazing show! Key Stage 2 have completed their four performances of ‘A Song for Christmas’. It was no mean feat getting all 210 children in Key Stage 2 up on stage, but the result was absolutely fantastic! Each year group sang a song they have been working on since October. The choir were able to perform, including the senior choir, and the whole Key Stage joined together in singing two songs as well.

Thank you so much to all the parents who came, the KS2 staff for their tireless efforts and FS and KS1 staff for their support as well. A huge well done to all the children for working so hard. Now we just need to get those catchy songs out of our heads!

Transition Workshop

Last night, Oxford Grove hosted a transition workshop for all of our Year 5 parents.

Our workshop was led by Mrs Gregory and supported by Miss Harvey, Mrs Day and Mrs Thompson.

We focused on the SATs assessments and how they are organised and prepared for, both in school and at home. We all looked at the details of transition to secondary school: what parents can expect and key dates for secondary applications.

Some feedback from our parents:

  • “Extra booster classes is an excellent idea.”
  • “I think how much information we got given today was really helpful.”
  • “A lot of information was given and covered. I think it was very well presented and can’t see any room for improvement.”
  • “One useful thing – information about applying for secondary school.”

Thanks to all of our parents for coming, and please don’t forget our fabulous website resources so you can help your child at home. Please click the links to access resources quickly.
