Computing LC1 – Can I use my judgement to decide what is real online?

Today in our Computing lesson, we read the story ‘ When Charlie McButton Lost Power’ which helped us think about activities and games we can play with friends or family without relying on screens all the time. We discussed how balance between technology and offline activities is important and that we can enjoy both if we use our time wisely. We also logged onto Interland and played the Reality River game where we had to spot fake information, scams and tricky situations online. It showed us to stop, think and make smart decisions before we click anything online. What lessons have you learnt today that you will apply to your own use of devices?

Today we learnt that not everything online is true, do not believe it! Also you do not need technology all the time. We know that is true because we saw it in a book called When Charlie Mcbutton lost his power. The moral of the story is life is not all about technology and to look around, who knows what fun you could get up to without your tech. When Charlie had to be offline because the power went out, he was really angry, but later he realised he could have a good time without the technology. We also played a game on google called Interland it teaches us not to believe everything we see online and check with a trusted adult if you are not sure.
