Computing Open Morning

This morning, Year 6 had our computing open morning where we had the chance to show our adults our amazing Computer Science skills! We began with a Project Evolve starter which we have at the start of every computing lesson to recap key messages about online safety. Next, we showed our adults some of the online learning platforms we use in school such as IXL and TTRockstars which help us with our learning. Our adults were amazed at how fast we could recall our times tables facts on TTRockstars and we challenged them to have a go as well. They did their best but they weren’t as quick as us!

Finally, we showcased our coding skills using Scratch to build a times table quiz using variables. Thank you to all parents who joined us this morning.

I did like this computing workshop but it was a bit hard because we had to make a score board so first we went on scratch and then we had to program to make a score board but first before that well the patents that came in got to see the game we play on the iPad examples like tt rock stars and they watched us play it and they got to play it for a bit and then after that we programmed our score board but l think it was really hard to do it because l am not good at programming things on scratch but l actually tried my best but before the parents came in we talked about what we were doing and then we learned some about some of the words we learn in computing and we had to answer some questions about it.
