Classroom Kitchen

This afternoon, 5 Grove had a very exciting D.T lesson. We were lucky to have Mr. D from Classroom Kitchen come in to help us make samosas. We practiced skills like the bridge method, the claw method and peeling different vegetables such as carrots, potatoes and onions. We learnt how to fill our samosas and fold the pastry into triangles. We can’t wait to try them at home! What was your favourite part of making them Year 5?

Year 5 was very lucky to have Mr D come in and help you guys make something with lots of different ingredients. I heard Year 5 made samosas which is amazing. I hope you guys learnt lots and lots of different chopping skills. I hope you enjoyed chopping using the bridge and the claw method. It looked very fun to do! In Year 6 we also did the Classroom Kitchen with Mr D a few days ago. We learnt many different techniques and we also learnt how to dice and chop with the bridge method and the claw method.

I enjoyed this a lot! I love cooking and the samosas were delicious. The thing that I didn’t like was the onions, as I really don’t like onions.

I really liked doing cooking and my most favourite part of my cooking was when I cut the vegetables. The samosa we made was really good and flavourful and very crispy. The samosa had different kinds of vegetables like peas carrots and corn. I liked folding my samosa into the pastry.

I liked the cutting the, peeling ,the folding and the delicious smell of the samosas when we were finished!

When we made our samosas, it was so hard to make a perfect triangle with the pastry and to peel the skin off the potato. It was really fun making my samosa because I have never made a samosa before or tried a samosa before and it turned out really nice! I would definitely make a samosa again.

Making the samosa was really hard, but it was fun. I learnt peeling and folding the samosa but I think it needed some spice and I was proud because I never made a samosa before.
I liked the carrots the most.

When we made the samosas, it was very hard because we had to cut vegetables like potatoes, carrots and onions. It was also hard because we had to fold the samosas. But my favourite part of it was eating it because it was so delicious.

Today we did the classroom Kitchen and we made samosas. First we cut the carrot and peeled the carrot then we did the same with the potatoes. Then we cut the onion. Then we put it in the oven and then it was finished so we made the pastry shape in to a triangle. Then it was ready to take home to enjoy with our parents. The best part about the classroom kitchen was making the pastry shape because it fun and easy.

I loved cutting the herbs in the clear plastic cup with scissors. There was carrots, potatoes, peas and onions and I would definitely make more samosas in the future! We went into teams to make the samosas I was with Soha, Ayesha, Anastasia, Jaykob and Jamal. We all didn’t make one samosa, each person went to put the vegetables in the pastry and started folding it up. I can’t wait to make some other things in the future.

I enjoyed doing the Classroom Kitchen because we got to make our own samosas ourselves and it was so good and me and my team did a brilliant job. We followed all the steps and this was my first time making a samosa myself and I did it very well and I was very proud of myself. The people in my team were Nel, Ayesha, Jaykob, Jamal and Anastasia. We followed each step carefully so we tried not to make mistakes but we still did a great job together. We got to peel the carrots and cut the corianders and it was really smooth. We learnt a variety of methods and we really enjoyed it. We then finally folded the pastry into triangles and did the method as shown and we put them in a box to show our parents and I really enjoyed eating it. I hope I do this Classroom Kitchen because it was really good.

I was a bit scared using these knifes and a peeler at first but I had an amazing experience, I am so lucky to go to this school. We made samosas which I think are better than one from a real Indian takeaway. I devoured the samosa it was amazing I wish the whole school could try them.
