Reading

This week in our guided reading sessions we have been practising using our phase 2 and phase 3 phonics knowledge. The children tracked the text with their fingers, segmenting and blending to read words. We read a book all about insects and learned that insects are bugs with 6 legs. The children used this understanding to figure out which bugs were insects by counting their legs. Super reading!

Today we all enjoyed an extra PE session.

A visitor from A-Life came to teach us how to keep our bodies healthy and showed us how fun exercise can be!

Christmas Party

We had a great afternoon at our Christmas party! Everyone showed off the lovely clothes they were wearing and we had lot of delicious food.

We did some brilliant dancing and played some party games – and we even got a very special visit from Father Christmas, who brought us all a present!

Did you enjoy your Christmas party?

Christmas Show

This week we performed our Christmas show our mums, dads and all of the people that look after us.

We had done lots of practise saying our lines, learning the words and actions to the songs, and remembering where we needed to be on the stage!

The staff are all very proud of the children – we think their performance was fantastic.

Anti-bullying

We have been talking about which behaviours are kind and unkind.

We read This is Our House which was all about a little boy called George. George made a house out of a cardboard box but wouldn’t let the other children play with him and was being quite rude! In the end, George realised that everyone can have fun together.

We wrote some sentences together about the pictures in the book.

Maths

Today in maths, we learned how to use the terms ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ to describe and compare amounts. Some children were challenged to find the total of their two groups by counting them all together. Look at Jacob’s beautiful number formation!

Geography

Linked to our topic on transport, we have been looking at maps and how they can help us to find something or to go somewhere. We read the story of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and discussed the different environments the family travelled through on their journey. Then we made our own maps!

BeeBots

This week, a visitor came in with lots of exciting equipment for us to borrow. She explained to our teachers how to use it and then some children got a chance to have a go!

We loved the remote control cars and really enjoyed directing the BeeBots around the map. We’re looking forward to getting this equipment out again!
