Early Life E.B (Elwyn Brooks White) was born on July 11th 1899 in New York to parents Samuel Tilly White and Jessie Hart White. He also had a sibling named Stanley (or known as ‘Stan’). Stan was a professor of landscape architecture. Elwyn attended Cornell University where he got the nickname ‘Andy’ after Andrew Dickinson White. E.B didn’t appreciate being called Elwyn.
Adult Life In 1925, E.B published his first article in the New Yorker. Then in 1927, he joined the staff and kept doing this job for over 60 years! White was best recognised for his “Notes and Comments” pieces. Katherine Sergeant Angell White was his wife. In 1930 E.B and Katherine has their first child, Joel White. Then in 1997 sadly Joel died, at the age of 67. On the 20th July 1977, Katharine died . The a year later, E.B died of Alzheimer’s disease.
Books E.B wrote Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web. Charlotte’s web was published in 1952 and Stuart Little in 1945. These were very successful children’s books.
Facts He died at the age of 86 and his wife 85. Katherine has a son named Roger who is 99 years old! He also wrote Trumpet of the Swan in 1970. He got awarded with a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
