Reception have been working hard in their Geography lessons exploring our new topic, ‘Down on the Farm’. They have been exploring what different types of farms we have and how important farms are to us. They also used ipads to explore the Smithills Farm map, ready for their upcoming trip!
This week Reception have been exploring how we can make 10! We have been rehearsing our number bonds and practicing making 10 through lots of interactive activities! Great work reception!
What a great day we had celebrating World Book Day in reception! The children all looked fantastic and we did some great recapping about our favourite stories! We love reading at Oxford Grove!
Reception did some super gymnastics in their PE, practising different movements and ways of travelling, great job Reception!
Reception had a brilliant time following instructions to make a jam sandwich! They worked so hard and the jam sandwiches were so yummy! Great work Reception!

Reception have been learning lots of new vocabulary in their guided reading and guided writing lessons to help with their new topic all about farms!
They had fun exploring tuff trays all about farms and reading their new story Farmyard Jamboree!
Over the past few weeks Reception have had a busy time learning how to ride bikes! Coach Mark has been a fantastic teacher ad all the children have built up lots of confidence learning to ride their balance bikes.

Reception had some chatter club time were we were chatting about who is in our family. We also talked about who our special people are and that we can talk to them about anything. It is important to express how we are feeling!
In PSHRE this term we have been learning all about how we can stay healthy to look after ourselves.
Today we have been looking at foods that are healthy and unhealthy. Learning about why we need to eat healthy food.
We know that we can have a treat every now and again but if we have unhealthy food everyday then it is not good for us!

Reception had a great time playing hide and seek in line with our latest book, ‘Children of the world’, they had to clearly recall the instruction on how to play! We will be exploring what games different children play around the world.
This week we have been working on using our phonics to read our book of the week ‘Rosie’s Hat’
With your adult can you talk to them about what happened to Rosie’s Hat? Where did it go? Who found it?
In our History topic we have been looking at our story ‘Once There were Giants’. In our story it follows a little girl as she grows up! We have been working on putting our pictures in chronological order, that means in time order! Thank you to all the parents for sending in you and your child’s baby pictures, we had a great time comparing what we look like.
Reception had a great time exploring capacity by making playdoh! They had to measure out the ingredients with their teachers and mix it all together! They had great fun!
In line with our book, ‘Once there were Giants’ Reception thought about what they wanted to be when they were older. They then did some writing about this and tried on costumes. They were very excited!
Reception explored how to find one less using different games. Some children used their knowledge and played Bingo, others used bricks to show one less and other children made playdoh shapes and posted them in our letter box to show one less! Wonderful work Reception!
Reception used dominoes to help their understanding of finding one more. They did a great job dotting the dominoes to find different amounts. Great work reception!
Reception have been doing a great job exploring how to make different numbers with the use of numicon. They have been practising their number bonds to 5! Well done Reception!
In our PSHRE lesson Reception have been exploring why exercise is important and how we can stay healthy! We looked at the affects of what happens after we exercise, and how to effectively warm up before we start. Great work reception!
Reception enjoyed playing games and singing Nursery Rhymes whilst exploring the number different numbers and zero! They understood that when there are none left, this means that there are zero!
Reception had a fantastic time watching the Pantomime today! Everyone was so excited! What a great time!
Reception had a great day wearing their Christmas outfits! They all looked fantastic and raised money for a great charity, Save the Children! Well done Reception!
Reception did a great job rescuing the animals from the snow! They used a timer to measure how long it took their friends to rescue the animals, understanding that they only had a minute to rescue them! We had a race to see who was the quickest!
Today we have been using our Colourful Semantics to build sentences that retell our story ‘Footprints in the snow’.
We created a story board to help us remember key moments in our story.
With our partners we built and orally recalled the story using our sentences.
This half term, reception craft club have worked really hard creating and making lots of different things! They have also put their own spin on a lot of our crafts and made them unique. Great work reception!

Reception One had a great time exploring how we are all different. We have already looked at how we are all special and how we all have our own unique families. Today, reception explored and talked about what makes their home special to them and created some of their own designs. Great work reception!
In RE this term we are learning about why God is important to Christians. We are learning all about how Christians believe God created the world and why we must look after it. How can we look after the world?
In the Bible it says that God created the world and everything in it. We had a go at creating some jellyfish and drawing some different animals.
In our early reading and writing reception learn lots of phonics sounds.

Today Reception walked into our unit to find it had snowed outside!

We know that remembrance day is about remembering those who fought for us.
Reception have been doing lots of work on a new Non- Fiction text this week! The text explains all about the signs of Autumn, what we should wear at Autumn and the different things that happen n Autumn time! Great work reception!
In their maths, Reception did an obstacle course using their knowledge of positional language. They had to say when they went on, under, between and next to different objects!
This week in our maths we have been learning about circles and triangles. We went on a shape hunt to find different circles and triangle in our environment.

We love having PE on a Thursday with the sport coach Mr Jelley!
We have been learning how work with others and play as a group. Through our PE we are listening carefully to instructions and working together to complete different tasks.
In our phonics we are working really hard on learning new letter sounds to help us read. We have been listening with Len and making sure we segment our words to help us read!

We love drumming with Mr Bamford as we learn lots of new songs and it helps us with our listening skills.
This week Reception have been learning all about their new story, The Rainbow Fish! They have been doing some super work around patterns and retelling the story! Great work Reception!
Reception had a super visitor who told them all about the great story of Rama and Sita and all about Diwali. They had lots of fun acting out the story and taking on the different character roles!
Reception have been working hard to help the firefighters with their super maths work! Great work reception!
Reception had a very special visit from Fire fighter Mike this week! He talked to the children about staying safe and what he does in his firefighter job role!
This term in our Science topic we are learning all about how we can keep ourselves healthy, happy and safe!
Today we made sure we understood the importance of washing our hands to make sure we get rid of germs!
Our story for this week is The Colour Monster goes to school! We have been exploring all the different emotions that we can feel! We even did a super experiment!
