We are proud to announce that Oxford Grove has been awarded the School Games Mark Gold Award for the second year running!
This award is recognition of all our work on PE and fitness, sports and games within school and competitions with other schools.
Well done to everybody!
Last week SnapChat, used regularly by many children and young people, launched a new feature. SnapMaps allows users to see the location of their contacts. This feature allows others to accurately pinpoint where you are and shares your location.
There are three possible privacy settings:
- Ghost mode, where only you can see your position;
- My Friends mode, where any contact can see your location; and
- Select Friends mode, just those who you choose can see you
ChildNet have posted a thorough explanation of SnapMaps and how to ensure users stay safe. Please click the picture below to find more information:
Today, the children have taken part in assemblies and some classes have had workshops from the NSPCC.
We learned all about Speak Out and Stay Safe. The message is that if something is bothering us, worrying us or feels wrong, we need to tell a trusted adult.
Today, we have been reassessed for the Investors in Pupils award. We first achieved this award in 2010, and we are delighted to have been reaccredited with this important award today. Well done to all our staff and children!
Investors in Pupils award recognises the achievement of the whole school. It values all pupils and helps them to improve the understanding of their role in their learning journey.
We also work within the whole school on increasing children’s understanding of the following areas:
- Having an understanding of the need to come to school and how learning links with their future aspirations.
- Knowing the roles and responsibilities of people who help them to learn.
- Having an understanding of what our School Governing Body Team do.
- Knowing about where the money comes from to run the school and what needs to be paid for out of this money.
- Knowing that all pupils at Oxford Grove are valued and included in decision making through School Council.
On Friday, Reception, Key Stage 1 and Year 6 took part in their Smiley reward, and today it was Key Stage 2’s turn. The children have all enjoyed learning a variety of circus skills, including plate spinning, scarf waving, balancing, juggling and even riding tiny bicycles!
Well done to all the children for earning their smileys!

This morning, we have held our new parents intake meeting for the new Nursery and Reception classes.
Mrs Ainscough (Foundation Stage lead) and other members of staff talked about what our school is like, and parents of children currently in Reception discussed their experiences of their children starting at our school.
Our Parent Area on the school blog is updated with articles from CEOP on a regular basis, as well as containing links to websites and resources you can use to support yourself and your child in a variety of areas, based around some of the difficulties of modern parenting.
The Parent Area has also been recently updated to show categories for all of our resources, making it even easier to find support for different topics.
If you need a reminder of the username and password, please ask at the School Office.

In our assembly this afternoon, we have been giving out lots of prizes! The winners of Mrs Calland’s bookmark competition were announced – well done to all those who won!
Also, some teachers in school have been holding blogging competitions within their classes. Well done to all those children who won with their comments! Other classes will be taking part in class blogging competitions next half term.
Also, Miss Harvey is holding a competition for the best child bloggers over the Easter holidays! This is in addition to our current adult blogging competition which runs until July.
Get blogging, everybody!
