Inclusion

At Oxford Grove, we work hard to make sure that everybody is included in everything. Everybody is given the same opportunities.

We have the Inclusion Quality Mark (Centre of Excellence) award, which shows how hard we work to make sure nobody is left out.

Once upon a time…

This week we have been reading the story ‘The three little pigs’. We have tried very hard to repeat some of the phrases, like ‘huff and puff’ and ‘blow your house down’. We went outside to read our story. We made a house of bricks and had a go at blowing it down.

What is your favourite story?

Today we have been talking about remembrance day. We talked about why people are wearing a poppy in school. We watched a lovely animated story and thought about the soldiers whilst we watched this. Why don’t you have a look at home?

Inclusion

At our school, we have lots of awards which we are very proud of. One of these awards is the Inclusion Quality Mark (Centre of Excellence).

This award means that everybody at our school gets a fair chance, and that we understand the importance of equality and diversity.

What does this look like in our school?

Fine motor skills

This week we have been completing lots of activities to develop our fine motor skills. One of our favourite activities was threading cheerios on to spaghetti. It is really tricky to do this but we tried very hard and our teachers were very proud.

You could try this activity at home.

Cross curricular writing

Our topic at the moment is Teddy bears. We have been learning the rhyme

Round and round the garden, like a teddy bear.

One step, two step and a tickle under there.

We used the ribbons to make big circles, round and round as we said our rhyme. We are trying to make our shoulder muscles strong to help us write. Our teachers are very proud of us.

Writing at Oxford Grove

Every year, our school chooses key priorities to help our school get better. One of the priorities this year is to improve writing.

In Nursery we have opportunities to make marks and write everywhere in our classrooms! We have been having a go at holding the chunky pencils and making marks that go up and down and round and round.

Our teachers are really proud of us.
