Harvest Assembly

Key Stage 2 have enjoyed a Harvest assembly led by Mrs Bain and Year 5B. We talked about and celebrated the Harvest gifts brought in by our families.

5B performed a play to teach us the importance of sharing, being thankful and showing tolerance for other religions and beliefs. We talked about how lucky we are to have enough food to eat, and gave thanks for all the choices that we have.

Author and Poet Jane Clarke’s Visit

Author and poet Jane Clarke visited our school today! All of the KS2 classes enjoyed workshops with her, where she read her books, talked about the process of writing and getting books published and shared some of her writing tips and ideas.

Everybody really enjoyed Jane Clarke’s visit. What was your favourite thing about your workshop, Key Stage 2?

KS2 Christmas Show

Wow, what an amazing show! Key Stage 2 have completed their four performances of ‘A Song for Christmas’. It was no mean feat getting all 210 children in Key Stage 2 up on stage, but the result was absolutely fantastic! Each year group sang a song they have been working on since October. The choir were able to perform, including the senior choir, and the whole Key Stage joined together in singing two songs as well.

Thank you so much to all the parents who came, the KS2 staff for their tireless efforts and FS and KS1 staff for their support as well. A huge well done to all the children for working so hard. Now we just need to get those catchy songs out of our heads!

Fundraising for Freya

At Oxford Grove, we are immensely proud of all our children with their wide range of talents, interests and abilities.

Picture215Outside of school, Freya in Year 4S takes part in a cheerleading club run by Bolton Gymnastics Club. Her team have been incredibly successful, winning the UK National Cheerleading Championships to become National Champions. They now have the unique opportunity to travel to Slovenia to take part in the European Cheerleading Championship!

As Freya’s team is now fundraising to raise money in order to take them to Slovenia, our School Council decided to hold a non-uniform day on Friday 13th May.

We raised £330 altogether, and the cheque was presented to Freya’s mum in assembly this morning. The cheque will be passed on to Bolton Gymnastics Club to help towards the costs of cheerleading uniforms and travel to the international competition.
