Y5 and Choir Music Assembly

Today we have enjoyed our fabulous music assembly! Year 5 showed off their amazing drumming and brass skills that they have been working on all year.

We we were delighted to enjoy a performance from our Halliwell Hooters. These children have had extra tuition in brass instruments and have built up their skills over the year.

Finally, we were treated to Choir showcasing their talents as they sung ‘Deep Down In My Soul’ and ‘This Is Me’.

Well done to our fantastic, talented children and thank you so much to all of our parents who could come to watch and support.

Here are some of the highlights of the performance:

Autumn 2 Smiley Reward – Pantomime

What an amazing afternoon we have had at Oxford Grove! We have enjoyed a performance of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as our annual pantomime.

Well done to all of the children who earned enough smileys to fill the back of their first smiley card and attend the pantomime.

We are all now working towards our next smiley reward in February – keep it up, everybody!

Harvest Assembly

Key Stage 2 have enjoyed a Harvest assembly led by Mrs Bain and Year 5B. We talked about and celebrated the Harvest gifts brought in by our families.

5B performed a play to teach us the importance of sharing, being thankful and showing tolerance for other religions and beliefs. We talked about how lucky we are to have enough food to eat, and gave thanks for all the choices that we have.

Alfa Music Festival 2017 – photos and videos

Here are the full photos and videos from our performances at the Alfa Music Festival last night.

Well done to all those who took part, who have been practising for so long – you were amazing!

Children of the World – our first song

Let Love Shine Through – our second song

Our Choir leading the ensemble song – Fiela

Proud – our school song, which we sang as the other choirs were being dismissed at the end of the night

Music Assembly

Today, we held our annual Music Assembly, where our parents got the opportunity to see the Oxford Grove Choir singing their music festival songs and the Year 5 parents got to see what they have been learning in their music instrument lessons this year.

Mr Bamford was so impressed with the Year 5 children this year and all their hard work learning brass instruments and the djembe drums!

After the assembly, the children got to spend some time with their parents. Thank you so much to everybody who could make it to watch the children.

Reading for Pleasure Fundraising Day

Today has been our reading for pleasure fundraising day!

All of the children have had the opportunity to come to school in their pyjamas and bring their teddy bears and favourite books for a ‘bedtime stories’ theme.

Each class has been working very hard in order to learn a poem off by heart. We got together in our key stages to perform the poems to other classes.

As part of our reading for pleasure, each person brought in £1 contribution for one of our charities, Stoke Association. Mr Smith from the Stoke Association came into school to do some awareness work with Years 5 and 6, and the School Council gave him all the money we raised.

Alfa Music Concert at the Macron Stadium

alfaOn Monday 4th July, the Oxford Grove choir will be taking part in their annual Alfa Music festival, held at the Macron Stadium. The children are practising very hard on their performance, as usual, and are really excited about their concert, where they will share the stage with other schools.

All are welcome – you do not have to have a child in the choir to attend the concert.

If you would like to attend this concert, you can order tickets from our School Office for £6 each.

Please click the pictures below to have a look at photos and videos of our choir’s performances at last year’s concert.
