Behaviour on our playground :)

Image result for children holding hands different religions clip art

We have been working hard to ensure we always show impeccable behaviour at our school, particularly on our school yard 🙂

Miss Moore was very pleased with us last week and thinks our lining up has been really good with clear person spaces in between each child! Well done!

We need to keep this up Year 4! Coach Matt has even commented on our behaviour on the field, he thinks we have been playing together really well and is impressed! Lets ensure next week is the same 🙂

What do you enjoy the most about your playtime?

Our School Aims!

Our school ethos and aims are very important and they are at the centre of everything we do 🙂

As part of our school aims, we promote an inclusive, happy and safe environment for all our children. Last week, we have been learning about Hinduism in our R.E lesson and finding out all about Puja! During the lesson we thought about how this linked to our school aims. We know that this links to leaning about the beliefs and values of different religions and cultures in order to understand and show respect. We know that our school is so lucky and special because we can use our range of religions and beliefs to learn from each other!

Can you find our school aims on our fantastic website? Miss Stockton x

Eid celebrations!

In Year 4 we have lots of children who celebrate Eid. Eid al-Fitr is the Muslim festival that marks the end of the fast of Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr means ‘The Festival of Breaking of the Fast’. On Friday, we learnt more about this celebration and also thought about how other religions celebrate important festivals or events. We shared how some of our friends in Year 4 celebrated Eid over the weekend. We decorated and designed different henna tattoos on printed hands 🙂

What did you and your family do to celebrate Eid? What other religious occasions do you celebrate?

Year 4’s trip to 7 Acres!

Today Year 4 have visited the 7 Acres Nature Reserve to find out more about different types of habitats and what wildlife thrives in our local area! We started our morning by looking at the wet areas including a river and a pond. Adam showed us how to use our nets to catch the animals carefully. We then took them back to our group whose job it was to classify them and find out what they were! One group even managed to catch some small fish! After lunch, we went to the woodland and grassland. We compared all of the habitats and the different types of creatures that lived there. We learnt lots of amazing facts about birds and bugs! We also made some human food chains using some of the insects and creatures that we found.

What insects and creatures did your group find?

What did you learn?

What was your favourite habitat to explore?

Here are some pictures from the day:

We can not wait for our special visitors to call ….

We are hoping that very soon, Ofsted Inspectors will visit our school because there are so many things that we would like to show them and tell them. We are very excited to hear that we are due this inspection!

We are very proud of our school because we are all one big family, who look after each other; we love how our school looks (with lots of our work on display); our teachers all work very hard to make our lessons exciting and mark our books very carefully so that we know what to do to improve. We have also achieved a lot of rewards recently to gain recognition of our hard work, from other inspectors! We are very proud of the work that we do in our books and always make sure that we take great pride in everything we do. We can not wait to show the OFSTED inspectors our amazing books!

In addition to all our curriculum lessons, we do many additional clubs before, during and after school to help us keep fit and enjoy other  subjects/activities that we love to do! Our teachers, use their own time, to provide us with these brilliant clubs! A lot of the sports clubs also compete in cluster competitions which we love!

We have lots of  learning opportunities in school and get to experience other opportunities  such as: circus skills; working with watercolour artists ,visiting the farm and the rock climbing wall!

What would you like to show the Ofsted Inspectors when they visit our school Year 4? We are really looking forward to their visit!

After that, we were put into groups where we got to take part in some team work games such as playing board games and enjoying rounders on the field. I’m sure you all had a great time and got to make some more new friends.

Year 4 Lighthouse Competition

Thank you to all of the children who brought in their D.T lighthouses from our lighthouse competition. Miss Stockton and Miss Longmore had a real struggle to decide one winner and so we had to choose 4! Well Done to Ashleigh, India, Hannah and Alen!
