Smiley reward

We loved this half terms smiley reward! We had to work together as a team and some of the activities were really tricky. Well done everyone for filling your smiley chart, meaning you could take part in this fantastic opportunity. What was your favourite part?

At our school, we have lots of awards which we are very proud of. One of these awards is the Inclusion Quality Mark (Centre of Excellence).

This award means that everybody at our school gets a fair chance, and that we understand the importance of equality and diversity.

What does inclusion look like in our school?

Roman invasion!

Year 4 have been invaded by the Romans, led by Sargeant Stockton and her team of cruel soldiers! We experienced what it feels like to be invaded and have things taken away from us. After, we discussed invasions and whether we think they are still happening today. We then wrote a recount on the events of the day for a piece of cross-curricular writing in our topic books.

Can you write a recount about what happened on that afternoon?

Here are some pictures from the invasion!

Cross curricular maths – Roman numerals!

Our history topic is the Romans and Year 4 have been very enthusiastic about it so far! This week we used Roman numerals to measure our height and weight. We found it tricky at first but we had some experts by the end of the lesson!

Can you remember how to write your age in Roman numerals?

Mrs McPhail’s favourite book!

As we are having a reading day in school today, I would like to share my favourite book with you… Matilda! This was my favourite book when I was a child and I still enjoy reading it now. Matilda loves books just as much as I do although unfortunately I don’t have any of her magical powers!

I am really looking forward to sharing this book with you during year 4 as this is one of our class novels!

What is your favourite book? Why do you enjoy it?

Image result for Roger McGough Poems

In our English lessons this week, our focus has been on poetry. We have been reading some poems by our class poet Roger McGough and we have found them very funny. We have also been reading Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl who is our class author.

What poems have you enjoyed reading this week? Can you remember any features of poems?
