Here are some pictures from our smiley reward:
Well Done for achieving this reward Year 4!
Did you enjoy this reward? Why?
Year 4 have started their new DT topic which is all about lighthouses!
Our design brief is to make Mr Grinley (from the lighthouse keepers lunch book) a new lighthouse because his old one is falling down!
So far we have researched Henry Winstanley and found out that he designed and built the Eddystone lighthouse.
Yesterday, we researched lighthouses. What are they used for?
We can’t wait to design our own and start building them! Don’t forget to collect lots of recycling at home especially newspaper!
In Year 4. we have learnt lots about Lowry who was an artist that lived in Salford in the 1800’s. As part of our History, we have also been learning about Samuel Crompton. Both of these people lived during the Industrial Revolution. We were lucky to work with an artist to help create an industrial display outside of Year 3. It looks amazing! Here are some pictures from the day:
What have you learnt about Lowry and Crompton?
What is the industrial revolution?
This week in computing we have been learning about keeping safe online. We discussed how people can be unkind online and what we can do if this happens to us. What can you do to keep safe online?
Here is the link we used today:
This week in Miss Longmore’s Maths class we have been learning about co-ordinates! Today we got the chance to play battleships against our friends! We had lots of fun! What are the rules for using co-ordinates?
This week in Miss Longmore’s English group we have been writing informal letters. We based our letters around Goldilocks and the three bears. We wrote a letter (in the role of Goldilocks) to the bears to say sorry for everything that we had done! Then, we wrote a letter back to Goldilocks in role as Baby Bear!
What features did we need to include within our letters Year 4?
Here is Andreea’s letter to the 3 bears! Well Done on writing an excellent letter!
Here are some pictures from our smiley reward! Well Done to all of the children who earnt their place on the reward and to those 10 children that filled their charts first to earn the silver award! Lots of us learnt the importance of listening to instructions today!
What did you enjoy Year 4?
Our topic in Geography this half term has been called ‘Why does it always rain in Greater Manchester?’ We have looked at rivers in the UK, we have used rain catchers (set up in our playground) to measure the rain fall at Oxford Grove, and used a website called will it rain today to compare the weather in cities across the UK!
We loved how we could see the clouds live across the UK! Here is the website if you want to check the weather Year 4!
What can you remember about the water cycle, year 4?
