At our school, we have lots of awards which we are very proud of. One of the awards is the Inclusion Quality Mark! We were so amazing at this that we got the centre of excellence!
This award means that everybody at our school gets a fair chance, is included and that we understand the importance of equality and diversity.
What does this look like in our school?
As part of our cross-curricular Maths we learnt about Roman numerals! We made posters for our display and signed up for the Roman army by writing our age, height and weight in numerals.
Can you remember some of the rules when writing in Roman numerals?
On Wednesday, Year 4 were invaded by an army of Roman soldiers led by the cruel Sergeant Stockton! We learnt what it was like to experience an invasion and even though we found it quite funny, we learnt that a Roman invasion wouldn’t have been any laughing matter! We also thought about whether or not invasions are a thing of the past or if they still happen now. We reflected on and discussed what wars are going on in the world today and how lucky we are to live in a safe place and come to such a beautiful school.
Can you write a recount about what happened on that afternoon?
Here are some pictures from the invasion!
Today in school all of the teachers shared their favourite books. My favourite book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. I really enjoyed reading this story as a child and I also enjoy watching the film version of this book. All the sweets and chocolate makes me wish that I could visit Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory one day! Miss White also shared her favourite book which is Lord of the Rings. She loves this book because it is fantasy. This is her favourite genre of book to read.
What is your favourite book and why would you recommend it to a friend?
I hope you’ve all had a lovely summer holiday and are ready to work hard this term! We have lots to look forward to like our first trip to Chester to learn more about the Romans, our first class assembly, our sports assembly and our music assembly! What are you looking forward to most about being in Year 4?
