Investors in Pupils

Next week the Investors in Pupils team will visit us. We already have the Investors in Pupils award, but they are coming back so we can show them that we still deserve to have this award!

All the children have lots of responsibilities at school and they all take their roles very seriously.

What jobs and responsibilities do you have?

All the children also have a personal target that they set every term and they review it every half term and record their progress in their PSHE book.

How do you know you have achieved your personal target?

At the start of the year every class wrote a class promise and these are displayed in the classrooms.

What is your class promise?

Miss Wright is looking forward to your answers 🙂

Cross-Curricular Learning

In our Racing to English sessions we try and do lots of cross-curricular worked linked to a range of subjects. Last half term we had a big focus on Geography where we looked at the environment around us. You all worked very hard to name items that are outside like different vehicles and things you might find at a park.

Can you name 5 things you might find at a park?

We have also looked at naming parts of a plant as part of our Science cross-curricular work and you all enjoyed going outside and looking at the plants on our school grounds.

What was your favourite plant?

Next term one of our cross-curricular focuses is going to be money. We will be learning the value of different coins and looking at what we can buy with different amounts.

What has been your favourite cross curricular lesson so far?

Miss Wright is looking forward to your answers.

Geography focus in basic skills

Last week in basic skills we had a geography focus. We looked at a range of vehicles and objects that you would find in the park.

On Monday we learnt to name the different types of vehicles and children shared the names of the vehicles in their native language.

Can you name a vehicle that is bigger than a car?

Can you name a vehicle that is smaller than a lorry?

On Wednesday we learnt to name objects that you would find outside. We discussed the different objects at the park and the children answered simple questions about which objects they liked and disliked.

What might you find at a park?

What do you like to play on at the park?

What do you dislike at the park?

Miss Wright is looking forward to your answers.

Inclusion Quality Mark

Last July Oxford Grove was awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark and we were given Centre of Excellence. As part of the Centre of Excellence status, the school gets reassessed every year. As a school we completed an action plan that will be assessed at our next assessment. The award recognises inclusive practice in schools. It consists of a number of elements, including pupil progress, attitudes, values, personal development and the learning environment.

Can you answer these questions?

How is Oxford Grove an inclusive school?

How do we make sure the learning environment is inclusive?

Miss Wright is looking forward to your answers.
